Although Frodo finds himself in many duels and battles he never actually kills anyone.
“The mail saved him from injury or death on four occasions, deflecting a spear-point and an Orc-arrow in the Mines of Moria, another Orc-arrow along the Anduin, and finally Saruman’s knife at Bag End. Frodo wounded the Barrow-wight and a cave troll, but never killed anyone” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frodo_Baggins …
This clip shows the many chances Frodo had to kill but didn’t.
Although Gollum constantly schemes to kill Frodo, Frodo refuses to kill him, much to the dismay of Samwise.

Even when the Cave troll spears him, Frodo does not shed blood… yet another aspect of the Mahdi that Tolkien uses for Frodo.
In other words the Mahdi does not force anyone to follow him. He will not wake the sleepers means he leaves people free to choose. Mahdi does not force people to follow him.
