The actual real meaning of “Frodo” according to Tolkien in his letter and the real meaning of “Mahdi” in Arabic are the same.
Frodo as Hero (savior) of middle earth Mahdi savior of mankind .

The meaning of Frodo according to Tolkien is very revealing    “…In his letters Tolkien states that it is derived from Old English fród meaning “wise by experience”.

The word Mahdi in Arabic means the guided one. Allah guides him.

Prophets and messengers such as Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, and Abraham were all guided by Allah through revelation. Moses was given the Torah, Jesus was given the Gospel, and Muhammad was given the Qur’an.

The is not given revelation like the other prophets and messengers but rather Allah guides him through worldly experience to the level of a prophet.

The Prophet explains this in a famous narration:

لبعث الله فيه رجلاً اسمه اسمي، وخلقه خلق

Paraphrased, it means: “Allah will send a man whose character will by like my character” so if we take the Prophet’s words seriously, the # Mahdi is equal to a prophet or a messenger.
